Putu Piring (Tutu Kueh)

Putu Piring (TuTu Kueh)
Makes about 13.

Ingredients:
2 cups rice flour
3/4 tsp salt
150ml + 2tbsp hot water
1/2 cup coconut without skin, grated
1/2 cup gula melaka, grated
Pandan leaves, cut into squares

Method:
1. Dry roast rice flour for 1 minute. Sift and leave it to cool.
2. Mix the salt in hot water and sprinkle over the rice flour.
Rub the water into the flour until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
3. Lightly grease a Putu Piring mould. Fill half the container with the prepared flour. Top with 1 - 2 tsp gula melaka and cover with more flour. Place a small piece of pandan leaf over it.
4. Steam for 10 - 20 minutes. Serve with grated coconut if desired.

2 - Hi Jess,
I believe the flour they use has been process before as u see this recipe need to dry roast for 1 min, even those ready mix flour need to be steam too.

For the mould I’m using egg tart mould heh heh. Perhaps u could try “Phoon Huat”? http://www.phoonhuat.com (Comment this)

5 - Hi gggggggggggggggggggggggg,
Actually this is Malay’s style with “gula melaka” (palm sugar) as filling, not those Chinese’s style of “Tutu Kueh” with desiccated coconut and peanut fillings. (Comment this)
