Cheng Tng

Make this Cheng Tng today. After I asking my mom about the recipe all the sudden feel making it too. Manage to find some of the items but there are still some missing items, I had forgotten to weight and measure the quantity. Although few item are omit, taste wise similar to those stall outside selling basically is just the taste of dried longan. My hubby loves it and here the final product.

Cheng Tng

Ingredients:

Dried longan

Dried lotus seed, soak with water and carbonate soda for 2 – 2½ hours wash and rinse

Dried lily bulb, soak with water and carbonate soda for 2 – 2½ hours wash and rinse

Dried red dates

Honey dates

Gingko nuts remove the shells, husk and remove the center core, which is bitter

Rock sugar

Water

Method:

Bring water, longan, honey date and red dates to boil.

Add in the wash lotus seed, lily bulb, gingko nut and rock sugar.

Simmer for 30 minutes or until lotus seed turn soft.

Serve cold or hot.

Still there are others ingredients for Cheng Tng too. Like barley, dried persimmon, dried orange peel, sago and some kind of look alike "bird nest" though it brown in color. And some there's some cooked agar agar strands and jellies.

Those brown in color and look alike "bird nest" to what my mom told me Chinese medical hall sell it.
